Product Description

The Grit Drum will replace the stock bladed planer drum in your power planer, Hitachi P20SB. The Grit Drum is precision manufactured right here in the USA. Over the past years, the Grit Drum has been copied by many, but never matched in quality or performance as this is the original Grit Drum.

The Grit Drum also includes the ball bearings for quick and easy assembly into your power planer.  Detailed instructions are also included as well as free telephone support.

Under normal use...

·         The Grit Drum will outlive this generation and probably the next. The Grit Drum is solid steel and coated with tungsten carbide particles for the abrasive, so nothing is going to wear out, unless abused.

·         The Grit Drum will sand the foam rather than cutting it like a normal standard planer would operate.

·         The Grit Drum is designed with relief areas so the planer motor will not be under constant load, sort of like pulse width modulating the cutting surface just the way the stock planer blades intermittently contact the work surface.

·         The Grit Drum is tungsten carbide coated on all major surfaces as well as having the sides coated enough to prevent the foam from melting. The coating on the sides allows for the power planer to be used as sculpting tool on foam, permitting non-linear motion of the power planer on the foam surface, perfect for surfboard manufacture as well as any other foam sculpting operation.
